City Operating Status for Friday, March 6                2-Hour Delay - Opening at 10:00 a.m. 

Offices and Facilities to Remain Closed Until at Least 10 a.m. Friday

Due to the pending storm, all City of Virginia Beach recreation centers and libraries will close today at 7 p.m. The Joint-Use Library on the campus of Tidewater Community College will close at 4 p.m., along with the rest of campus.

Because of icy conditions, all city offices and facilities will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, March 6, until at least 10 a.m. That includes all parks, libraries, recreation centers and the Virginia Aquarium. City leaders will assess conditions early tomorrow morning to determine whether to further delay the openings.

Waste and recycling collections are still scheduled for tomorrow, March 6, as soon as weather conditions permit. Crews will begin Friday collections and any collections not completed on Friday will be completed on Saturday.

 Alpha I employees should contact their supervisor for reporting responsibilities. Alpha II employees should report at 10 a.m. Friday or at the scheduled time thereafter. Based on individual circumstances, employees may request leave approval from their supervisors for the remainder of the day Friday.
