Virginia Beach Crime Solvers Celebrates 30 Years

Friday, June 22, 2012

Virginia Beach Crime Solvers, Inc., a non-profit organization, was established in 1982 by a group of local businessmen responding to a growing crime rate in our city.  The strong tripartite partnership between the community, the media and the Virginia Beach Police Department allowed this program to flourish and be recognized as one of the top Crime Solver organizations in North America.

Since 1982, anonymous tips to the Crime Solver program have resulted in more than 7,158 arrests and more than 14,829 solved crimes.  The Virginia Beach Crime Solvers program has recovered over $32,067,201.00 in narcotics and stolen property while paying out over $851,531.00 is cash rewards to anonymous tipsters.  The Federal Bureau of Investigations in 2010 rated the City of Virginia Beach as the lowest violent crime rate city in the United States based among all cities with a population of 300,000 or more.  This program, in conjunction with the Virginia Beach Police Department, is what makes this city a safe place to live, work and raise a family.

This year, as Virginia Beach Crime Solvers celebrates its 30th Year Anniversary, we want to thank you, our community, for its continued success!
