On May 19, 2012, forty-one recipients will be recognized as Virginia Beach’s Best All Around. Award recipients are youth and youth groups who demonstrate exceptional leadership, courage in overcoming adversity, community involvement, or advocacy for social change. Other awardees are outstanding and inspirational adults who work with children and teens, and businesses or organizations that have created an organizational culture of support for young people. The Virginia Beach’s Best All Around awards are based on the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets®, which are positive experiences and personal qualities that help young people grow up to be healthy, principled and caring adults. Winners will be recognized at Virginia Beach’s Best All Around 34th Annual celebration on May 19, 2012. The Best All Around Award program is sponsored by the Virginia Beach Youth Opportunities Team and Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation.
