“The Best Defense,” A Free Self-Defense Workshop, Saturday, May 12th, at Kempsville Recreation Center

Don’t become a crime statistic! Attend “The Best Defense,” a free self-defense workshop brought to you by the Virginia Beach Police Department and Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation.  Participants will increase awareness of the environment, learn about crime prevention, obtain personal safety tips, and learn how to escape from potentially dangerous situations.  Geared for ages 12 & up, this self-defense workshop features simple skills that participants will practice under the supervision of Virginia Beach Police Department instructors.  WHERE:  Kempsville Recreation Center; WHEN: Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. (Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign in.)

All participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing and no jewelry.  Those under age 16 must participate with a parent or guardian.  Please note that for this free workshop a membership card is not required.  Register as soon as possible as this is a very popular workshop.  Registration will be accepted until May 5, 2012.  You may register by calling any Virginia Beach Recreation Center.  If you are a recreation center member and know your account number and PIN, you may register online at http://ezreg.vbgov.com  for class # 108842.
