Your Closet’s Not the Only Thing That Needs Spring Cleaning

Spring is a great time for cleaning.  So grab a friend or family member and join the hundreds of volunteers participating in Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup ™!  The event, organized locally by the City of Virginia Beach, is part of the nation’s largest cleanup, beautification, and community improvement program.  On Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., you’re invited to take part in cleanup activities at the following Virginia Beach locations to help make our city a more beautiful and safer place to live:

  • Princess Anne Commons/Landstown High School:  Cleanup of litter and debris from school grounds, drainage ditches, parks sites and green space areas along the corridor that leads to the Amphitheater, Sportsplex, and baseball fields.
  • Plaza-Northgate Park: Cleanup of litter and debris from baseball fields, adjacent green space, and drainage ditches.
  • Norfolk Southern right-of-way: Cleanup of litter and debris from the 17.5 mile stretch of railroad track. Volunteers should be able to work on uneven terrain along the railway and lift heavy objects.

The minimum age requirement to volunteer for any of the above cleanups is 16-years-old.  Any minors who’d like to volunteer must be accompanied by an adult.  If you or a group would like to volunteer, sign up here by April 6.
