Virginia Beach City Public Schools and the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health have partnered to offer free COVID-19 and flu vaccinations to students, faculty, staff and the general public the week of Jan. 24, 2022 at three schools.
COVID-19 cases are rising and vaccines remain our best defense to reduce the spread and diminish serious illness and hospitalization.
At the clinics, people ages 5-17 will be offered the Pfizer vaccine and will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Adults will have the option of either the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
For individuals ages 12 and up who received a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 two-dose vaccines, a booster shot is available at 5 months or more after their initial series.
Booster shots are also recommended for individuals 18 and older who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, and were vaccinated two or more months ago.
Youth ages 5 to 11 years old are able to receive a third dose of the Pfizer vaccine 28 days after the completion of the two dose series if they are immunocompromised.
Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. CDC's recommendations now allow for this type of mix-and-match dosing for booster shots, but it is recommended individuals consult with their physician before mixing doses.
Individuals who are unsure of their eligibility should consult their physician, or refer this CDC Webpage.
Appointments are encouraged, however, walk-ins will be accepted. Visit the links below to schedule your appointment time, or call 1-877-VAX-INVA (877- 829-4682).
Appointments are not required for flu vaccines.
