Convicted Felon Apprehended for Multiple Firearm Violations

​VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -  On June 23, 2021 members of the VBPD Warrant Fugitive Unit, assisted by VBPD K9, apprehended a registered felon who was wanted for multiple firearm violations.

On June 19, 2021 at 7:00 a.m., VBPD were called to the 100 block of Narragansett Drive for a report of a firearm violation.  It was learned through the preliminary investigation that the suspect, 32-year-old Jeremy Joseph Johns, of Norfolk, Virginia was engaged in a verbal dispute when he drew a firearm and discharged it in the direction of a bystander. Johns fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Johns has been charged with attempted malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and brandishing a firearm. He is being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail on a no bond status.
