Two Fatal Crashes - Three Deaths

VIRGNIA BEACH, Va.  In a span of one week, two fatal crashes occurred in Virginia Beach resulting in the loss of three lives. 

On May 6, 2021, at approximately 2100, a 2009 Nissan Altima, traveling westbound in the 5300 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard lost control causing it to enter the center median and strike a tree. Both occupants of the vehicle were pronounced deceased on scene by Emergency Medical Services. The driver has been identified as  24-year old Iyonni Aniko Jackson, and the passenger has been identified as 22-year-old Lexus Ivette Barnett. Excessive speed is believed to be a contributing factor to the accident. 

On May 8, 2021, at approximately 0252 hours, a 2018 BMW 330i was traveling northbound in the 100 block of Oceana Boulevard when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, strike a tree and catch fire. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors of the crash. The passenger of the vehicle, 21-year-old Joseph Jaime Adorno IV was pronounced deceased on scene. 

The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Jafet Martinez was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and involuntary manslaughter, he is being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail.
