*Update* Shooting in 1600 Block Hiawatha Drive

April 4, 2021

On April 3, 2021 at 10:07 pm Virginia Beach Emergency Communications received reports that a person had been shot in the 1600 block of Hiawatha Drive.

Officers located one deceased male, and two additional victims (one male, one female) suffering from life threatening injuries from apparent gunshot wounds. All victims are teenaged juveniles.

The preliminary investigation led detectives to obtain and serve a search warrant in the 1600 block of Hiawatha Drive where evidence was recovered.

Two arrests have been made in this case:

20-year-old Davoll Deshamp James Jr. of Virginia Beach has been charged with murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and two counts of aggravated malicious wounding.

19-year-old Jarquavivus Markell Webb of Virginia Beach has been charged with robbery, attempt to commit a non-capital offense and conspiracy to commit a felony.

This case remains under active investigation by members of the department's homicide unit.


On Saturday, April 3, 2021, at approximately 10:08PM, Emergency Communications received a call for a gunshot wound in the 1600 block of Hiawatha Drive. 

Police arrived and located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two of the victims were transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, and one victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, this is all of the victim information available.

This is still a very active scene and homicide detectives are working the ongoing investigation. There is no suspect information available at this time.
