Pungo Ferry Bridge Schedule Revised; Closures to Resume This Weekend

Virginia Beach Public Works has announced a revised schedule for the Pungo Ferry Bridge project.

Weekend closures will resume this weekend, beginning Friday, April 2nd, at 9 p.m. until Monday, April 5th, at 5 a.m.

The revision in the schedule concerns the day schedule, and will begin on Monday, April 5, at 5 a.m. through Friday April 9, when there will be continuous single lane closures with flaggers.  All lanes will be open each day from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Crews will begin the epoxy deck overlay and continue each day through Sunday the 11th

With spring break that week, there will little-to-no impact on local schools.  Virginia Beach Fire/EMS/VBPD will still be able to pass as with any flagging operation.

At this time, the weekend full bridge closures will continue through Friday, May 3, 2021.

The work is scheduled to be completed June 2021 – weather permitting
