Auto/Pedestrian Accident 25th Street/Atlantic Avenue

52-year-old Roy Abdias Escobar, of Virginia Beach was arrested and charged with Maiming As A Result of Driving While Under the Influence. He is being held at the Virginia Beach City Jail.

On Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 4:50 p.m., Emergency Communications received a call for a vehicle/pedestrian accident at 25th Street/Atlantic Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male victim who had been stuck by a vehicle. Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the male victim to a local hospital with what is believed to be serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigations determined the vehicle was traveling northbound on Atlantic Avenue when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, struck a hotel sign that was on the side of the road, subsequently striking the victim, who was on the side of the roadway. The driver remained on the scene and was arrested by the investigating officer. This case remains under investigation by members of the Department's Traffic Safety Unit.
