*Update* Auto/Pedestrian Fatality Accident 69th Street/Atlantic Avenue

The decedent has been identified as 55-year-old Michael Francis Ott Jr. of Virginia Beach.

There are currently no charges pending for the driver of the vehicle.

UPDATE: The roadway is now open to all traffic. 

On Friday, July 10, 2020 at approximately 10:02 p.m., Emergency Communications received a call for an auto/pedestrian accident near 69th Street and Atlantic Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. Emergency Medical Services also responded to assist the victim however, the male succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene with police. 

This case is still very active and the roadways between 68th to 70th Street are expected to be closed for the next 2-3 hours for the accident investigation. Traffic is passable on the feeder roads however, Police ask that you please avoid this area. This release will be updated once the roadway is reopened. 
This case remains under investigation by members of the Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT). No other information is available at this time. This release will be updated as soon as information becomes available.
