Free Parking on Atlantic Avenue Extended Until May 8

Extension provided to accommodate restaurant take-out and pick-up services

Tuesday, March 31, 2020

To assist local restaurant businesses while adhering to the Governor's stay at home order and observing social distancing guidelines, the City of Virginia Beach Parking Management division is extending free parking on Atlantic Avenue until May 8.

Two-hour parking on Atlantic Avenue, from 6th to 38th streets, is free between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. The free parking program began on Oct. 1, 2019 and was originally set to end on April 1. Due to restrictions placed on local business operations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City has extended free parking to accommodate take-out and pick-up services provided by restaurants located within the oceanfront area. Parking enforcement staff will continue to enforce the two-hour time restrictions on Atlantic Avenue to ensure the free parking spaces remain available for businesses and their customers.

Additionally, municipal parking lots, garages and meters will operate at a reduced rate of $2 per hour through May 8. Although parking can be paid for with cash or a credit card, customers are encouraged to use the Passport Parking app (available on Google and iPhone app stores) to pay using a mobile phone, or at www.ppprk.com. Customers may also pay to park in municipal garages using text to pay, with the instructions found on the parking ticket received upon entry.
