VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (March 19, 2020) — City officials are responding to a variety of questions from residents. See what people are asking and discover the answers at the City's coronavirus FAQs page.

The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Board public hearing scheduled for Monday, March 23, 2020 has been canceled. All items have been moved to the April 6, 2020 public hearing date.

The VBACAC remains open for business, with many wonderful animals up for adoption that would love to practice social distancing with a new human family.  Current specials are running through March 31: sterilization fees are waived for dogs; ½-off cat adoptions; and all fees are waived for any pet 7 years of age or older.

People are welcome to come adopt and reclaim pets by appointment, as the Center is facilitating social distancing and limiting the number of people in the building at any one time to keep everyone safe. The public is encouraged to interact with the VBACAC via Facebook to schedule an appointment to:

  • Meet/adopt a specific pet
  • Browse the selection of pets currently available or
  • Look for a missing pet
Guests should expect to wait in their car until space in the lobby is managed. Staff is using Facebook Messenger to communicate with citizens regarding their appointment time.
VBACAC is 100% committed to providing quality service to every customer. People can also contact the Center via phone or email for assistance with making appointments for various services.
