Shoaling Alert for Rudee Inlet

An Alert to Mariners has been posted for Rudee Inlet due to serious shoaling conditions, based on a City of Virginia Beach survey, on November 20, 2019

The survey indicates shoaling in the channel approximately 100 feet east of the ends of the jetties extending out eastward approximately 300 feet.  Conditions reported are least depth from 5.4 feet MLLW (mean lower low water).  

Shoaling has been identified in the inner channel from the east end of the jetties, extending westward for 350 feet, with least depths reported at

7.8 feet MLLW. 

Shoaling has been identified on the south side of the inner channel located 100 feet east of the south side inner jetty, extending westward for 350 feet with least depths reported at 5.8 MLLW.

Mariners are urged to exhibit extreme caution when approaching this area.  Use idle speed when approaching the inlet and seek local assistance if unfamiliar with the inlet and its condition.
