Shoaling Alert for Rudee Inlet

An Alert to Mariners has been posted for Rudee Inlet due to serious shoaling conditions, based on a City of Virginia Beach survey, dated November 14, 2019

The survey indicates shoaling in the channel from the approximate east ends of the jetties extending out eastward approximately 300 feet.  Conditions reported are least depth from 3.8 feet MLLW (mean lower low water).   

Shoaling has been identified across the inner channel located approximately 200 feet west of the south jetty, extending westward for 150 feet with least depths reported at 8.2 MLLW. 

Shoaling has been identified on the south side of the inner channel located from the south side inner jetty, extending westward for 250 feet with least depths reported at 6.6 MLLW.

Mariners are urged to exhibit extreme caution when approaching this area.  Use idle speed when approaching the inlet and seek local assistance if unfamiliar with the inlet and its condition.
