7 Tips for a Stress-free Holiday Season

​VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Nov. 12, 2019) — Are you ready for the holidays? There's no need to add stress to the tangle of lights, shopping, cooking and event-planning that are part of the season. Virginia Beach Public Library has resources and programs to help you make the most of your festivities. Here are seven tips:

  1. Learn how to spend wisely by attending "Holiday Shopping on a Shoestring Budget" at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Central Library. Registration required.
  2. Need help getting into the spirit? With VBPL's Digital Library, you can skim through magazines for decorating ideas and download holiday movies and music. There are also e-books and audio books, which are great travel companions if you're planning a trip this season.
  3. Pick up some mindful decorating tips at the "Holiday Fire Safety" presentation by the Virginia Beach Fire Department, 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Pungo-Blackwater Library.
  4. Get help creating a unique table centerpiece for the holidays. Learn how to make a book-folding craft shaped like a tree at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Kempsville Library. Registration required.
  5. Practice new ways to send holiday greetings during two programs at the TCC/City Joint-Use Library: how to create an e-card for the holidays using Canva, an online graphic design tool, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec 4; and how to create your family's annual holiday letter using Microsoft Publisher, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Registration required.
  6. Keep your holidays green by recycling greeting cards into gift tags, boxes and ornaments. Learn how at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at Kempsville Library. Registration required.
