2019 Tidewater Veterans Day Parade, Ceremony Slated for Monday, Nov. 11

​Join us as we pay tribute to and honor all Veterans at the annual Tidewater Veterans Day Parade and ceremony, Monday, Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. This year, more than 120 units with multiple components have signed up to march or perform during this year's annual parade, hosted by the Hampton Roads Council of Veterans Organizations (HRCVO).

This year's Grand Marshal is Marine Veteran Duane Trowbridge (Ret.) and the Co-Marshal is Air Force Veteran Steven J. Combs, who currently serves as Deputy Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services. The parade will include, among others: the U.S. Fleet Forces Band, Virginia Beach high school marching bands, honor guards, and motorcycle and/or mounted units from the Chesapeake and Virginia Beach police departments and the Virginia Beach and Portsmouth sheriff's offices.

This year's parade, cosponsored by the American Veterans, will be held Monday, Nov. 11 (Veterans Day), starting at 9 a.m. on Atlantic Avenue, beginning at 16th Street and ending in front of the Tidewater Veterans Memorial on 19th Street. The parade will include military units from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard that represent military installations across the region. Veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom will participate, as well as several Tidewater municipal and veterans support organizations local high school bands, NJROTC Units, and Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops.

The Veterans Day Parade is sanctioned by the Department of Veterans Affairs National Veterans Day Committee and the mayors of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach, who signed the Veterans Day Proclamation declaring that "citizens, businesses and organizations demonstrate due appreciation, admiration and respect for all veterans who have served our great nation."

Immediately following the parade, a formal ceremony will be held at the parade reviewing stand, located across the street from the Tidewater Veterans Memorial, 1000 19th St. This service will include military and civilian honors to the Veterans.
