Free Calendar Encourages Water Conservation; Illustrations by Virginia Beach Elementary Students

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

The Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities 2012 Water Awareness Calendar is now available.  Distributed annually, the free calendar (which happens to make a lovely holiday gift) is illustrated with artwork from Virginia Beach elementary school students and reminds residents to use water wisely every day of the year.
Artwork featured in the calendar was chosen through Public Utilities’ annual water-wise art contest, and shows various ways that Virginia Beach students, in kindergarten through fifth grade, help conserve water, prevent backflow contamination, and properly dispose of fats, oils and grease.  This year, the Department selected 40 illustrations from more than 1,000 submissions to be featured in the 2012 Water Awareness Calendar.
Calendars are available at all Virginia Beach public libraries and recreation centers, while supplies last.  Calendars are also available at the Public Utilities Business Office (Municipal Center, Building 2, Room 200).
