Did you know, the Earth rotates at 1,000 MPH? We believe that's another good reason to wear your seatbelt.

In 2017, 47% of the 37,133 people killed in fatal crashes were unrestrained. Wearing your seatbelt is the best defense in crashes. The consequences of failing to wear or improperly wear your seatbelt are very clear;

  • Wearing your seatbelt keeps you safe and secure inside of your vehicle.
  • Failing to buckle up could result in you being ejected during a crash, which is often fatal.
  • Improperly wearing your seatbelt, such as wearing your shoulder belt underneath of your arm increases your chances of significant internal injuries.
  • Vehicle safety restraint systems, such as airbags are designed to work with seatbelts and failing to buckle up may result in serious injuries.

    Virginia law requires seatbelts for all front seat passengers and is considered a civil offense and is a $25 fine. Virginia law requires everyone under the age of 17 to be properly restrained and is also a civil offense and is a $50 fine.
