Resident Responses Needed for Survey of Individuals with Disabilities

Virginia Beach Parks & Rec seeking public feedback to help shape future of Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Programs and Services

Tuesday, May 14, 2019

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation (VBPR) is asking residents to complete a short online survey to learn more about the demographics and interests of local individuals with disabilities. The survey opens today, May 14, and will remain open until May 21. The data gathered will help guide future programming and services for the Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Services Unit.

VBPR currently offers a variety of Therapeutic Recreation programs and Inclusion Services to individuals with disabilities and diverse needs with a mission to:

  • Enrich quality of life
  • Meet community needs
  • Enhance skill development, leisure education and recreation participation
  • Increase independence through individualized goals and objectives

The information from the survey is needed to help ensure that these programs and services are targeted appropriately to serve the greatest number of participants and meet their needs. Information is being sought on things like the types of disabilities diagnosed, ages of those who could be served, preferred methods of program communication, and times/days that programs should be made available. Survey responses are anonymous. To complete the survey, residents should visit publicinput.com/trinclusion.
