Proposed Change to City Code 6-5 (Animals on Beach and Adjacent Areas)

Thursday, April 04, 2019

The proposed change to City Code 6-5 which would require dogs to be leashed on all city beaches will not move forward at this time.

Animal Control will monitor and evaluate situations involving dogs on beaches over the next twelve months. They will also continue to enforce the existing law and educate dog owners in regards to proper control of their dogs on city beaches. In addition, a citizens group will be created to analyze the issue and  provide recommendations to ensure the safety of all citizens and animals on our city beaches.

The community forum regarding this proposed change will still be held on April 10th 2019 at 6:30 pm at the Law Enforcement Training Academy.

There is also an online survey that will be open for comment until April 9th.  https://publicinput.com/LeashLaws
