Public Works Announces Traffic Signal Work Begins at 22nd and Atlantic

Friday, March 29, 2019

Virginia Beach Public Works has announced that signal construction work has begun at the intersection of 22nd Street and Atlantic Avenue.  Work will be from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, excluding weekends and special events.

There will be a temporary lane closure on 22nd Street and Atlantic Avenue.  The 22nd Street lane closure will be for left turns and through traffic at the intersection.

The Atlantic Avenue lane closure will be for both northbound and southbound.  Left turns and through traffic for northbound will be restricted.

The work is likely to produce some traffic delays, congestion, and some construction noise.   Advanced warning signs will be clearly posted advising motorists of lane closures.

Citizens are urged to use alternate traffic routes whenever possible.

All scheduled work is weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Highway Electric is the contractor.  For additional information please contact Tulsa Sturges with Highway Electric at (757-353-9175), or William Morgan with Public Works Operations at (757) 738-4119.
