Council Member Sabrina Wooten to Host Information Session on Princess Anne Hotel Development

Tuesday, March 12, 2019

City Council Member Sabrina Wooten, who represents the Centerville District, will host an information session about the proposed Princess Anne Hotel on Monday, March 18. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Advanced Technology Center on the Virginia Beach Tidewater Community College (TCC) Campus located at 1800 College Crescent.

The meeting is being held in advance of a City Council vote to authorize the sale City-owned property adjacent to the TCC campus at the intersection of Princess Anne Road and Community College Place. A 110-room hotel and standalone restaurant are planned.

Council Member Wooten and City staff will provide a briefing about the project and field questions and comments from attendees.

"It's important to make sure that our residents understand the scope of the project and to provide a forum for their opinions to be heard," said Wooten. "My goal is to promote transparency and ensure we have a clear picture of the community's opinion before we take up this decision as a Council."

On April 30, 2017, the City issued a Request for Proposals for the sale of a portion of the property at Princess Anne Road and Community College Place and the development of a hotel and related site improvements. After consideration of two responsive proposals, the City determined that Princess Anne Hotel, LLC, presented the best opportunity to develop the property. The developer has also requested the option to purchase the remaining 2.5+/- acres of the property for the construction of a second hotel, which would include conference space.
