Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Launches New Coed Adult Ultimate League

Tuesday, February 26, 2019

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation (VBPR) Sports Management team has launched a new coed adult Ultimate league that will begin play this summer. As with all of its leagues, VBPR focuses on providing fun and recreational sports to serve as positive athletic outlets for the community. Registration is now being taken on an individual basis through June 16 and 12-person teams will be assigned by VBPR staff. There is an early bird registration discount of $5 for those who register by April 1.

"Over the past few years, we have seen a huge increase in Ultimate tournament rentals at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex (PAAC) along with pick-up games occurring at City View Athletic Complex," said Jane Jagodzinski, Sports Management Coordinator. "We wanted to offer a league for our local Ultimate athletes and provide an opportunity to host the games on our synthetic fields under the lights at PAAC."

The Ultimate league will be played on a 70-yard field with 25-yard end zones. Games will be self-officiated, relying on the "spirit of the game" standard and sportsmanship of the players. VBPR Sports Management staff will be onsite as game advisors to aid in settling disputes. During registration, a preferred coach can be requested though it is not a guarantee. A roster with player contact information will be provided to each coach following the team placement process.

Games will be played at PAAC on Thursday evenings from 6 to 10 p.m. beginning July 18 through August 22. For more information and to register, visit VBgov.com/sports or contact VBPR Sports Management at 757-385-0458.
