Accident Involving a Pedestrian leads to Police Vehicle Pursuit

UPDATE​

20-year-old Treniya Rejinae Deas of Virginia Beach was arrested and charged with:

  • Felony Hit & Run
  • 2 Counts Eluding Police


On Thursday, February 14, 2019 at approximately 1:57​AM, uniformed officers observed an accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Independence Boulevard and Virginia Beach Boulevard. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and officers initiated a pursuit. Officers were able to successfully end the vehicle pursuit at 4960 Haygood Road (Bayside High School) and the driver was taken into custody. As a result of the pursuit, one police vehicle was struck by the suspect vehicle, resulting in minor damages, but no officers were injured. Further, there was no damage to school property. EMS arrived and rendered aid to the suspect for minor, non-life-threatening injuries.  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this incident. This case is still under further investigation by uniformed patrol officers.

 The pedestrian victim of the initial crash was located and did not sustain significant injuries.
