VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Feb. 8, 2019)  —  The Ignite small business workshop will be held in the 2nd floor theater of the Advanced Technology Center at the TCC Virginia Beach Campus, 1800 College Crescent, 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Topics will include: 

  • Plenary Session I: Overcoming Issues Facing SWaM Businesses – Tracey Wiley, director of the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity
  • Panel Discussion: What Makes a Good Supplier? – City of Virginia Beach purchasing agents
  • Plenary Session II: Doing Business with State and Local Government – Jim Carroll, executive director for the Hampton Roads Small Business Development Center, Inc. and vice president for Small Business for the Hampton Roads Chamber ​
  • Keynote: Avenues to Winning Public Contracts – Monique McWhite, director of the Hampton Roads Procurement Assistance Center at Old Dominion University’s Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship
  • Table Topic Group Discussions: Small group conversations about issues in public contracting like bid limits, joint venturing, capabilities statement, building experience and more.
