Vehicle/Pedestrian Crash - 5600 block of Indian River Road

On Friday, December 28, 2018, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Officers were called to the 5600 block of Indian River Road, for a report of an adult female that had been struck by a car.  The operator of the vehicle​ remained on scene and the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Members of the department's Fatal Crash Team respond to investigate.  Investigators learned that the pedestrian had left the 7-Eleven and was attempting to cross Indian River Road directly across from Founders Inn.  At the same time a 2004 Jeep Cherokee was traveling westbound in the 5600 block of Indian River Road when it impacted the pedestrian who was running across the traffic lanes,  outside of the crosswalk.

No charges have been obtained at this time as the crash is still under investigation.
