UPDATE Serious Crash 1700 Block N. Great Neck Rd

Investigators have determined that a 2014 Hyundai Accent was traveling east in the 2600 block of River Road attempting to cross the 1700 block of North Great Neck road onto Upper Chelsea Reach.  At the same time a 2006 Toyota Highlander was traveling north on North Great Neck Road.  The Highlander impacted the passenger side of the Accent pushing it off of the roadway and up onto the right shoulder before striking a power pole.  

The operator of the Hyundai was transported to a local hospital with reports of life threatening injuries.  The operator is listed in critical condition.


Case is under investigation.  No word yet on charges. 


On 12/19/18 at 5:04 p.m. police received a call for a two vehicle crash in the 1700 block of N. Great neck Rd at River Rd.  One of the vehicle occupants was pinned in the vehicle.  That occupant has been freed from the vehicle ​and was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.  

Due to this crash, northbound Great Neck Rd at Falcon Crescent is closed to all traffic.

This is an active scene and the crash remains under investigation with Off. C. Daley assigned as the lead investigator.  There is no further information at this time.  We will update once the roadway is reopened.
