Waste Management Collections Returns to Normal

Friday, October 26, 2018

Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 29, normal Waste Management guidelines for disposal of vegetative debris are in effect.

The City of Virginia Beach will continue to collect yard debris associated with Tropical Storm Michael, however it will be collected as part of the regular schedule and normal yard debris collection requirements are back in place. Please do not place any out-of-regulation yard debris at the curb as it cannot be collected.

Bulky Item Collection remains suspended to allow these trucks to assist in collecting vegetative debris.

Since TS Michael blew through Virginia Beach, Waste Management crews have collected more than 5,200 tons of yard waste. 2,600 of those tons were collected manually.

Waste Management wants to remind residents that there are options for disposal. For larger amounts of yard debris, a yard debris container can be rented by calling the City's Waste Management Division at 385-4650. The Virginia Beach Landfill and Resource Recovery Center, located at 1989 Jake Sears Road, is available to Virginia Beach residents for a wide range of recycling and disposal needs. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

If you have any questions you may call (757) 385-4650, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or visit www.vbgov.com/wastemgt.
