VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation has a fall schedule of events to keep you and the family active and entertained as the hot, sticky weather eases and the leaves begin to change. Golf, outdoor movies, archery, and craft shows mean we're ready to launch into the new season with gusto and hope you'll join us for the fun!

Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Foundation's Fall Golf Tournament
(Sept. 14 | Red Wing Lake Golf Course | $100 per person)
Fore! Come out to Red Wing Lake Golf Course for an afternoon of golf and philanthropy, benefitting the Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Foundation. The format is 4-person Florida Best Ball and prizes will be awarded to the Men's and Women's Longest Drives and Closest to the Pin. The event begins with a free bucket of balls for warm-up on the driving range, followed by a shotgun start. Snacks and refreshments are provided throughout the day. Mount Trashmore Movie Night: Homeward Bound
(Sept. 15; rain date Sept. 16 | 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Mount Trashmore Park)
Bring your K-9 companions and head over to one of the city's best gathering places for a movie under the stars as we watch an old favorite! We're showing "Homeward Bound" on our giant screen from the comfort of Mount Trashmore's grassy slope. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, family and friends…and maybe some tissues! We also encourage you to bring your four-legged family members out for this one (on leashes, of course!) Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation's mascot Barks & Rex will also be there for a meet and greet. The movie starts at dusk. Food will be available for purchase.

Bow Creek Block Party
(Sept. 29 | 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Bow Creek Recreation Center)
Join us at Bow Creek for this fun, free, family-friendly block party! A DJ will pump up the party while you play games, check out vendors and exhibitors, have fun with face painting, and snack on yummy treats from local food trucks (food available for purchase.) No membership required.

Archery Demo Day
(Sept. 29 | 1 to 3 p.m. | ages 6 and up | Bayside Recreation Center)
Take aim and test your skills by trying a new sport! Ever wonder if you could shoot a bow and arrow and actually hit the target? Join us for our archery demo day! All equipment is provided at this free event that is open to the public (no membership required.) Participants ages 6 to 16 must have a parent or guardian present.

Touch-a-Truck
(Oct. 13 | 12 to 3 p.m. | Williams Farm Recreation Center)
Beep! Beep! Rev your engines and let your kids experience the thrill of sitting behind the wheel of some of their favorite four-wheeled vehicles including the Fire Department's Monster Truck, a police car, street sweeper, dump truck and more. Face painting, children's crafts, and tons of motorized fun to explore! The first hour of the event will be a low-sensory hour. This is an opportunity for families with children who are anxious about loud sounds and blinking lights to attend the event without those effects.

Mount Trashmore Movie Night: Wonder
(Oct. 20; rain date Oct. 21 | 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Mount Trashmore Park)
Join us for a WONDERful night of UNITY as we watch an incredibly powerful movie under the stars! We're showing "Wonder" on our giant screen and inviting everyone who comes to wear orange to be part of a drone photo being taken overhead! For this special night, we're celebrating the culmination of Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation's first-ever Unity Week! Celebrate with us by signing our giant unity pledge board, and doing something kind to include someone else. Movie starts at dusk. Food will be available for purchase.

Ghoula Palooza
(Oct. 27 | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Great Neck Park)
Dress up your kids and pets to have a ghoulishly good time Trick-or-Treating through Great Neck Park. Frighteningly fun family fitness activities, crafts, inflatables, petting zoo and more will ensure the entire family enjoys a beautiful - but spooky - day at the park! Free and open to the public.
