Andrew M. Friedman, Director of Virginia Beach Housing and Neighborhood Preservation, Appointed to State Board of Housing and Community Development

​Gov. Ralph Northam recently appointed Andrew M. Friedman, director of the Virginia Beach Department of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation, to the state Board of Housing and Community Development.

The Board of Housing and Community Development develops and adopts regulations that govern construction and development in the commonwealth, including the Uniform Statewide Building Code, the Statewide Fire Prevention Code, and other related standards. It also advises the Department of Housing and Community Development on state housing policy, including the state's Consolidated Plan, which assists to guide and coordinate housing and community development programs in the commonwealth.

"I am honored to have this opportunity to serve the commonwealth and to assist in achieving state and city goals for housing," said Friedman.

Friedman's four-year term on the board is from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2022.
