*UPDATE- Arrest Made* Six Shot in the 1800 block of Atlantic Avenue

An arrest was made in the shootings that injured 6 unsuspecting citizens on Atlantic Avenue in the overnight hours on the 4th of July holiday. 

Investigators immediately gathered evidence and video from local businesses in the 1800 block of Atlantic Ave. and were able to develop 21-year-old Ladarius Malik Trisvan, of Emporia VA, as the suspect in this case.

Warrants for Trisvan were obtained  on July 5th, and our Warrant Fugitive Detectives spent the next 5 days tracking Trisvan around the Emporia and Jarratt, VA areas. On July 10th Trisvan was taken into custody without incident. None of the victims are believed to have been the intended target of the shootings, however, the motive is still unknown. 

Trisvan​ has been charged with 6 counts of malicious wounding and 6 counts of use of firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held without bond in the Virginia Beach City Jail.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           


On Thursday, July 05, 2018, at approximately 12:29 a.m., a Virginia Beach Police Officer reported gunshots in the 1800 block of Atlantic Avenue.  Officers located two adult females and four adult males suffering from non-life threatening injuries.  Five victims were transported to a local hospital and one victim self-transported to a local hospital. 

Investigators determined that the victims were walking with the flow of pedestrian traffic on the west side of Atlantic Avenue when they heard the gunfire and were struck.  None of the victims reported any problems during the night with anyone that could have led to the shooting.  The victims were unable to provide information as to the identity of the shooter.

The crowd ran and dispersed due to the gunfire and no witnesses remained on scene or returned to provide any information as to the identity of the shooter

Patrol officers were within a block of the shooting scene.

Four subjects were detained, but released after being interviewed. 

​This case remains active to members of the Detective Bureau.
