VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — June 13, 2018 — City Council will consider at its July 10, 2018 meeting the approval of staff's recommendation to award the Design/Build Comprehensive Agreement for the new sports center to MEB General Contractors, Inc. (MEB). The Public-Private Education Facilities Act (PPEA) procedures require details of the terms be posted for public viewing for 30 days prior to the execution of the Comprehensive Agreement. The documents, including a summary of terms, the construction budget, 15 percent drawings, and the construction schedule, have been posted on the City's website at VBgov.com/SportsCenter, in the Related Documents section.
City Council approved in February an interim agreement with MEB following the review of proposals submitted in response to the City's solicitation. The Design/Build Comprehensive Agreement establishes a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) of $57,776,725 for construction of the building and $10,364,322 for the associated surface parking.
Citizens can provide feedback on the agreement by signing up to speak to the agenda item planned for the July 10 meeting.
