UPDATE - Fatality Crash 1700 block N. Great Neck Road

The decedent has been identified as 73-year-old Maria Grayson Fox of Virginia Beach.

The driver of the at fault vehicle, 35-year-old Anthony Francis Spence, of Winter Park, Florida was arrested and charged with 

  • DWI, BAC .15-.20, 1st Offense
  • Involuntary manslaughter-DUI
  • Hit & Run - Personal injury
  • Refuse Blood/Breath test​


On Sunday, June 3, 2018, at 9:52 p.m., Emergency Communications received a call for service for a two vehicle crash in the 1700 block of N. Great Neck Road. 

Preliminary investigation is that the victim was traveling in a Lexus SUV eastbound on River Road, the driver made a right onto southbound Great Neck Road. The victim’s vehicle was stuck in the left rear by a white 4 door Hyundai Sonata. Both occupants of the Hyundai fled the scene on foot. Police on this​ scene canvassed the area and subsequently apprehended both occupants from the suspect vehicle shortly after the crash. Both were treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Lexus SUV died on the scene. Police believe both alcohol and speed are factors in the crash. Charges are pending for the driver of the Hyundai. 

This case remains under investigation by members of the Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT). No other information is available at this time.
