Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation unleashes packed lineup of free family fun

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Summer is the season that Virginia Beach really comes alive and Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation wants to be part of your family's plans for fun and sun. There is so much to do both indoors and out, so mark your calendars and join us as we make summer memories that will last a lifetime!

Mount Trashmore Summer Carnival
(June 1-19 | hours and prices vary | Mount Trashmore Park)
Rides, games, and traditional state fair foods are all available at the Mount Trashmore Park Summer Carnival. Located in the parking lot off Edwin Drive, the carnival is great for all ages and offers free admission and free parking.

Seatack Community Health Fair Day
(June 2 | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Seatack Recreation Center)
Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation promotes living your best and healthiest life, so we're inviting everyone to the Seatack Community Health Fair Day! This fun, family event is free and open to the public and will include activities such as bounce houses, fitness demonstrations, vendors, games, dancing, rock wall climbing, pool activities, kid's crafts, music and more! 

Party at the Pier
(June 15 – rain date June 16 | 7 to 10 p.m. | Little Island Park)
Kick off your shoes, bring your friends and join us for a free concert in the sand with live music by local band Buckshot VB, If you love rocking to live music and the beach, then this party is for you! Local food trucks will be onsite selling food and new this year, there will be onsite beer and wine sales to benefit the Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Foundation. Onsite parking is free after 5 p.m., but space is limited, so guests are being asked to carpool or rideshare if at all possible. This event is presented in partnership with Siebert Realty.

July 4th Fireworks Celebration (July 4 – no rain date | 4 to 10 p.m. | Mount Trashmore Park | parking $10)
Celebrate America's independence with live music by Free For All, delicious foods, and of course, booming fireworks! Fireworks typically begin between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m., but is subject to change. 

Movie Night: Moana
(August 18 – rain date August 19 | 6 to 10 p.m. | Mount Trashmore Park)
"You're welcome!" Get ready to sing along under the stars as we watch "Moana" on our giant screen from the comfort of Mount Trashmore's grassy slope. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and of course family and friends! Food will be available for purchase.

Back to School Festival
(August 25 | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Williams Farm Recreation Center)
Before you put the kids back on the bus for the new school year, head over to Williams Farm for our 4th annual block party-style day of games, competitions, face painting, bounce houses, and refreshments. This event is free and open to the public. Arrive early for door prize drawings and our school supply giveaway (while supplies last.) Leading up to the event, we'll be conducting a school supply drive, so consider donating today at Williams Farm. All donations will be distributed at the event.
