Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public Comment On Police Department

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) will arrive March 11, 2018  to examine all aspects of the Virginia Beach Police Department's policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services, Chief J. A. Cervera announced today.

 

Verification by the team that the Virginia Beach Police Department meets the Commission's state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to maintain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.

 

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on March 12, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Academy (411 Integrity Way, Virginia Beach, Va.).

 

If any citizen is unable to attend the formal public hearing, they are invited to offer comments by calling 757-385-6994 or 757-385-6978 on March 12, 2018 between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.
