Commission Accepting Human Rights Awards Nominations

Nominations for the 24th Annual Human Rights Awards Ceremony are being accepted now through Feb. 5, 2018 by the Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission (HRC). The HRC recognizes noteworthy individuals and groups who have aided in the understanding of cultural diversity and advocated for the human rights of the City's residents.

The awards committee will evaluate nominees based on community involvement, initiatives and humanitarianism. Eligible nominees are people living or working in Virginia Beach or anyone who has contributed to the promotion of human rights to benefit Virginia Beach residents. 

"The Human Rights Commission needs your help in recognizing individuals or groups in our community who work tirelessly to protect and promote cultural diversity and advocate for the human rights of all," said Chairman Raj Islam. "We look forward to your nominations."

A nomination form must be attached to all entries, as well as at least two letters of endorsement to support the nomination. Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 via email, mail or hand-delivery. Please submit completed applications in one of the following ways:
