Virginia Beach Convention Center Prepared to Host 30+ Events in December

An estimated 30,000 guests expected over holiday season

​Beautifully decorated for the upcoming holidays, the Virginia Beach Convention Center is primed for a robust December when more than 30 events will bring upwards of 30,000 guests through the Center's doors. From two free holiday concerts and a wine celebration to serving as home base for thousands of festively costumed runners, the Center will be bustling this holiday season.

The 27th Annual Gymstrada Invitational brings athletes from near and far to compete in a variety of gymnastic disciplines for three days beginning Friday, Dec. 1. Competitions will range from floor routines to equipment sequences. Daily and weekend spectator passes will be available.

Shop in a stress-free environment as multiple vendors of the widely-popular LulaRoe clothing line convene under one roof for a LulaRoe Clothing Boutique Show on Saturday, Dec. 2. Admission is free.

Celebrate the upcoming holidays with friends and Virginia wine at the Winter Wine Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 2. Enjoy the ambiance of a magical winter wonderland, high energy music, dancing and a spectacular light show. Finish off your holiday shopping early at with a great selection of Virginia wines, wine accessories and unique gift items. Doors open at noon to this ticketed event.

The Home for the Holidays Concert is definitely an event you won't want to miss! Admission is free to this festive USO-style show. Donations will be collected for the benefit of the USO and military families in need during the holidays. Attend one or both of the performances: the Saturday, Dec. 2 concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday, Dec. 3 show is an afternoon matinee which begins at 3:30 p.m. Children are welcome.

Friday, Dec. 8 through Sunday, Dec. 10 brings the 2017 Virginia Holiday Duals to Virginia Beach once again. This national level wrestling competition event hosts 60 elementary and 60 middle school teams together to vie for the prestigious National Holiday Duals Championships. Spectators require a ticket to enter the competition area.

The Hampton Roads Chamber will hold their annual meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 13. The Chamber's premiere event for the membership with legislators, state government officials and the most influential business people of Hampton Roads will have Ralph Northam, newly-elected governor of Virginia, as the keynote speaker. Membership not required. This luncheon meeting is a ticketed event.

Bring your camera and holiday spirit to the event which broke the world-record for the largest Santa run in 2016. More than 5,000 Santas are expected again this year for the Surf-n-Santa 5 Miler & Sports Expo. The course for this fun race takes runners through the Oceanfront area and along the holiday light display on the boardwalk beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16. The Sports & Fitness Expo will be open from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 for shopping and packet pick-up. Kids under 12 accompanied by an adult can participate in their own event, Rudolph's 1K on Friday beginning at 6:15 p.m. There is a registration fee for the events - spectators are free.
