Virginia Beach Emergency Medical Services to Dedicate New Headquarters & Training Center

First time in EMS’s history that administration and training are located in one facility

Monday, November 13, 2017

Join Virginia Beach Emergency Medical Services (VBEMS) as they dedicate their new headquarters and training center, Saturday, Nov. 18 at 10:30 a.m. For the first time in the department's history, the headquarters and training center will be located together in one facility at 4160 Virginia Beach Blvd.

Earlier this year, City Council approved the conversion of the former Adult Learning Center to the new headquarters and training center for VBEMS. After several months of renovation, the two divisions moved into the new office space in mid-October. This expanded facility offers a wide variety of opportunities for the largest volunteer-based emergency medical system in the country, including:

  • A primary training site for initial and continuing VBEMS education
    • Training capacity includes more than 4,560 square feet of dedicated classroom space capable of accommodating more than 115 students
    • Six skills training labs
    • One ambulance simulator
  • A service center for volunteer applicant processing, intake and orientation
  • A training hub for citywide prehospital care, operational oversight and coordination
  • A training site for Emergency Communications E911
