VB Public Works Announces USACE Dredge Scheduled for Rudee Inlet and Lynnhaven Inlet

Friday, October 27, 2017

A notice to mariners about serious shoaling conditions at Rudee Inlet was issued on October 11, 2017.  The outer basin area, just beyond the jetties, is below five feet.

The US Army Corps of Engineers’ dredge, the Currituck, is scheduled to arrive on Friday, November 3, 2017, and begin dredging.  The work is expected to take six days.

Upon completion of the work at Rudee Inlet, the dredge will move to Lynnhaven Inlet and begin dredging.   That work is expected to be completed in seven days.

Mariners are urged to exhibit extreme caution when approaching this area.  Use idle speed when approaching the inlet and seek local assistance if unfamiliar with the inlet and its condition.
