Tuesday, October 03, 2017

Virginia Beach Public Works has announced that crews will begin two roadway improvement projects next week.

On Sunday, October 1, 2017, crews will begin work on Witchduck Road, both northbound and southbound from Sullivan Boulevard to Virginia Beach Boulevard.

On Tuesday, October 3, 2017, crews will begin road work on Bayside Road from Shell Road to Diamond Springs Road.

Both projects will include milling, paving and pavement marking work.Crews will be working at night from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.  Any paving and marking work that needs to be done during the weekday hours will be from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Any weekend work – if needed – will be scheduled between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The project and the milling and paving operation is likely to produce traffic delays, congestion and some construction noise.  Advanced warning signs will be clearly posted advising motorists of lane closures.  Citizens are urged to use alternate traffic routes when possible.

The Witchduck Road project is scheduled to be completed by October 22, 2017.

The Bayside Road project is scheduled to be completed by October 15, 2017.

All scheduled work is weather permitting.
