Two vehicle head-on collision

​The driver of the passenger vehicle, 37-year-old Carl Jordan Hylton, of Norfolk, Virginia has been charged with Driving while intoxicated and maiming as a result of driving while intoxicated.


On Sunday, September 10, 2017 at approximately 2:45 a.m., Emergency Communications received a call for a head-on collision between two vehicles in the 5200 block of Greenwich Road. There were a total of 5 patients were transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital with injuries. Four patients have non-life threatening injuries and one patient is in critical condition. 

Preliminary investigations determined that a SUV with 4 occupants was headed southbound on Greenwich Road. A passenger vehicle,​ with 1 occupant was traveling northbound on Greenwich Road in a curve in the roadway. The passenger vehicle was traveling in an excessive speed and crossed the yellow line hitting the SUV in a head-on collision. Fire crews on scene worked for an extensive period of time to extricate both drivers from the vehicles due to the significant vehicle damage from the crash. Police believe speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the crash.  ​

This case remains under investigation by members of the Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT). No other information is available at this time. This release will be updated as soon as information becomes available.
