A Season Full of Events You’ll Fall For

Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation’s family-friendly fall lineup is here

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation has a fall schedule of events to keep you and the family active and entertained as the leaves change and begin to fall away. Beach parties, block parties, movie nights on land and in water mean we're ready to launch into the new season with gusto and hope you'll join us! A full list of events and activities in our parks and recreation centers can be found on our website, VBgov.com/parks. Some of the fun set for fall includes:

Party at the Pier
Presented by Siebert Realty (Sept. 1 | rain date Sept. 2 | 7 to 10 p.m.)
Kick off your shoes, bring your friends and join us for a FREE concert in the sand with live music by local band Buckshot, If you love awesome live music and the beach, then this party is for you! Local food trucks will be onsite selling food and non-alcoholic beverages. Additionally, for the first time, we'll be offering onsite beer sales to benefit the Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Foundation. No personal coolers will be permitted at this event. Onsite parking is available and free after 5 p.m. 

Bow Creek Block Party
(Sept. 16 | 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Bow Creek Recreation Center)
Come out to Bow Creek for this fun, free, family-friendly block party! A DJ will keep the party going while you play games, check out vendors and exhibitors, enjoy face-painting, and snack on yummy treats from local food trucks (food available for purchase.)  

Movie Nights at Mount Trashmore:

  • ​Star Wars; The Force Awakens (Sept. 29 | rain date Oct. 1 | 6 to 10 p.m.)
  • Ghostbusters (Oct. 27 | rain date Oct. 29 | 6 to 10 p.m.)

Join us on the mountain for a night under the stars and a feature film on our giant screen. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and of course family and friends! Food will be available for purchase. The Back Bay Astronomers will be onsite for the special showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens with telescopes and other galactic viewing devices for your stargazing enjoyment.

Archery Demo Day
(Sept. 30 | 1 to 3 p.m. | Bayside Recreation Center)
Are you ready to take aim? Test your skills by joining us for our free archery demo day! All equipment is provided and participants ages 6 and up are welcome (ages 6 to 16 must have a parent or guardian present.) Questions? Email outdoors@vbgov.com or call 757-385-2990.

Movie Nights in the Pool:

  • Halloweentown (Oct. 20 | 6 to 8 p.m. | Seatack Recreation Center)
  • ​Book of Life (Oct. 20 | 6 to 8 p.m. | Princess Anne Recreation Center)

Float on in with the family for a movie viewing experience everyone will love! You're sure to have an amazing time splashing in our indoor pools while watching a family favorite on our big screen. All ages are welcome. A recreation center membership or day pass is required for these events.

Ghoula Palooza
(Oct. 28 | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Great Neck Park)
Bring your little ghouls and goblins for a ghostly good time Trick-or-Treating through Great Neck Park. Frighteningly fun family fitness activities, crafts, inflatables, and more will ensure the entire family enjoys a beautiful - but spooky - day at the park! 

Santa's Stocking Old Fashioned Craft Bazaar
(Nov 4 & 5 at Princess Anne Recreation Center; Nov 18 & 19 at Kempsville Recreation Center | Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
An annual holiday tradition, this event features over 100 different craft vendors each weekend. Crafters will be selling unique handmade items, everything from stocking stuffers to fine works of art, all at budget-friendly prices. As we get closer to the date, check our website for information about free visits with Santa and child care opportunities so that parents and kids can take advantage of all this holiday favorite event has to offer! Vendor applications are being accepted for both weekends, but spaces go fast, so register today!

If you're feeling active and itching to compete, registration is happening now through September 11 for the adult pickleball and sand football leagues. We've also got registrations for adult basketball and volleyball and youth basketball taking place in early November.
