Drainage Project to Close Portion of Mount Trashmore Park Trail

Work scheduled for July 31 to August 20

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is alerting users of the Mount Trashmore Park multi-use trail of an upcoming partial closure scheduled for July 31 to August 20, weather permitting. During this time, guests should expect minor obstructions and re-routing related to a drainage improvement project performed by the Public Works Stormwater Bureau at the southeast end of the lake adjacent to Independence Blvd. A safety fence will be installed around the construction area to ensure public safety and a section of the trail will be closed, preventing users from making a full loop. This project will relieve minor flooding in adjacent neighborhoods across from the site that includes parts of Larkspur subdivision.
