Pedestrian Fatality

July 12, 2017, 10:58 a.m.,  

Investigators have determined the decedent's identity​ and next of kin have been notified.  The information is being withheld for 24 hours to allow additional family members to be notified. 


July 11, 2017, at approximately​ 9:21 p.m., Virginia Beach Police received a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Buckner Boulevard and Holland Road.  The pedestrian died as a result of the injuries received.  The operator of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Investigators of the Department's Fatal Crash Team have determined that a 2014 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound in the 3200 block of Holland Road.  As the Camry passed the Taco Bell, the pedestrian crossed Holland Road into the path of the Camry, being struck by the vehicle.  The pedestrian was not utilizing​ a designated crosswalk.

The decedent's identification is yet to be determined.

This case remains under investigation by members of the Virginia Beach Police Department's Fatal Crash Team.
