UPDATE - Serious Motorcycle/Vehicle Crash - S. Plaza Trail

UPDATE:  June 17, 2017, 4:07 p.m.

Investigators have determined that the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was traveling from Palace Green Boulevard and made a right turn into the oncoming lane of S. Plaza Trail.  The operator of a Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on S. Plaza Trail, seeing the motorcyclist, moved to the right hand lane to avoid a collision​ with the motorcyclist.  The motorcyclist sideswiped the Nissan causing it to crash.

Speed and alcohol are factors in this crash.

Charges for the motorcyclist are pending.

This case remains under investigation by members of the department's Fatal Crash Team.




On Saturday, June 17, 2017, at approximately​ 1:39 p.m., Virginia Beach Police responded to a serious motorcycle/vehicle crash in the 3800 block of S. Plaza Trail.  The motorcyclist has been transported to a local hospital in serious condition.  Due to the seriousness of this crash, members of the department's Fatal Crash Team are responding to investigate.

At this time, the 3800 block of S. Plaza Trail, near Palace Green Boulevard is shut down.  Traffic is being diverted​ through the neighborhood.
