Wednesday, June 07, 2017

The Virginia Beach Crime Prevention Steering Committee (VBCPSC) is currently seeking nominations for this year's Crime Prevention Steering Committee Awards.  The Crime Prevention Steering Committee was established in 1977 to act as an advocate for community participation in crime prevention as well as to support and advise the Virginia Beach Police Department with community concerns regarding crime.

The Steering Committee has now merged with the Citizens' Police Academy Alumni Association of Virginia Beach, and for the past thirty two years it has honored individuals, community organizations and businesses that exemplified the values and mission of the Crime Prevention Steering Committee.  The Steering Committee is seeking nominations for the 2016 awards.  The deadline for nominations is Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 5 p.m.  The awards will be presented to recipients during a ceremony which will be held later this summer.

Categories for nominations include:  Private Industry Award, Community Organization Award, Citizen Award, Youth Award, Law Enforcement Award, and Volunteer Award.  Each category is uniquely different; however, each nominee should possess a personal or organizational commitment to crime prevention that exemplifies and exceeds that of the average citizen or organization.

Please return the nomination form, by mail or download the form on your computer from our website at and email it back with attention to Kathy Erdei.  If you chose to mail the nomination, please mail the form to Citizens' Police Academy Alumni Association of Virginia Beach, P.O. Box 6859, Virginia Beach, VA, 23456, ATTN: Kathy Erdei. The nomination forms must be received by 5 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2017.  You will be notified at a later time of the date and time of the awards ceremony.

It is through collaboration and cooperation that we can make a difference in our community.
