Carjacking Arrest

On Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at approximately 3:57 p.m., Emergency Communications received a report of a carjacking in the parking lot of Food Lion located at 748 Independence Blvd. 

Victim reported being approached at gunpoint, and his vehicle taken.  During the robbery, the victim attempted to stop the robber, while doing so, the victim was assaulted.  The victim received minor injuries, and refused rescue.

Investigators located the vehicle the next day, unoccupied.

Last night, June 1, 2017, a K9 officer observed the three people matching the suspect's description.  The three were quickly detained, without incident.  

Through investigative means, detectives have determined the three are believed to be responsible for the robbery.

Arrested:

Glenn Lamont Travers JR., 20, of the 500 block of Ashwood Drive, Newport News.  Travers JR was charged with Carjacking, Use of a Firearm, and 2 counts of Robbery.  He is being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.

Juvenile # 1, charged with Robbery, Carjacking, Use of a Firearm and Conspiracy.  The juvenile is being held in the Virginia Beach Juvenile Detention Center without bond.
