Virginia Beach Public Works Announce Temporary Lane Closure on London Bridge Road

UPDATE ​May 26, 2017:​ ​The emergency lane closure for excavation work on northbound London Bridge Rd. (noted below) as part of the fuel spill cleanup will continue through Sunday.  All work is weather permitting.

​Virginia Beach Public Works has announced an emergency lane closure of a portion of the northbound lane of London Bridge Road between International Parkway and Potters Road to allow for excavation work.  The work is part of the cleanup effort from the fuel spill at Naval Air Station on May 11th

The work zone will be south of the intersection at Navy Road and London Bridge Road, north to the intersection of Wolf Street and London Bridge Road.  Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in the immediate vicinity of the work zone.  

The work zone speed limit will be 35 miles per hours while work is in progress.  Signage, flagging personnel, and cones will be in place to enforce the lane restrictions and reduced speed limits.  

Work will begin Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and will continue each day at those hours until the work is completed.     

All work is weather permitting.  

Lane closures will be intermittent and in effect until work is completed.  A map of the work area is attached.
